During the cold and blustery weather we are having its always a treat to visit a warm inviting restaurant. West Londons legendary, low cost Khan's, for instance.

But don't go thinking that "low-cost" means low standards because even though the prices are very low, the food and service here are very good. Our friendly waiter attended to us with smiling efficiency and the place was buzzing with people enjoying a hearty meal in a lively atmosphere.

We soon found out Khan's has gone non alcoholic. Yes, we were disappointed, but this decision was taken just before the new millennium to kick of the 21st century on a healthy note. And it works really well. So I chose a freshly squeezed juice Banana, Apple & Strawberry (£2.75) and my partner went for Mango, Banana & Orange Yum.

We started with a traditional Tandoori Chicken (£4.90) and Onion Bhajis (£1.95), followed by main course of Chicken Tikka Masala (£3.90), and Chicken Shahi, which is cooked in cream, spices & coconut (£3.20), Sag Paneer, Spinach cooked with Khan's homemade cheese (2.60) along with Pilau Rice (1.65) and a Garlic Naan (£1.60).

Every thing was delicious its just a shame we were soon so full that we couldn't finish everything.

I decided to try a non- alcoholic cocktail a novel experience for an avid drinker. The Strawberry Colada (£3.25) was a blend of strawberries, pineapple juice and coconut and to be honest I didn't miss the alcohol.

After all the food just eaten, dessert was not really an option, However, persuaded we were! A traditional Gulab Jamun (£1.60) was my choice, a sponge pudding with nuts and raisins in a syrup served hot, Its very sweet but worth a try. My companion went for the Honey Pot (£2.60), ice cream with pieces of nut topped with glazed almonds and honey sauce a must for ice cream fans.

So for about £30.00 we had a fantastic and healthy meal for two. You really have to visit this little gem to believe it.
